Our first two days in Florence have been both lovely and smooth. I will try to refrain from too much exposition and instead try to capture just a bit of the feel of our lodgings and wanderings. Travel Tip for Florence: if you are here more than 4 days join "The Friends of the Uffizi" - no waiting in lines and you can make up the 50 euro per person cost visiting all the biggies - AND you get unlimited visits! Great value and huge time saver.
The stairway leads to our top floor (4th level) room at Residenza il Villino
Love this room with a view! Picked it from their website...
The courtyard view immediately outside our window.
The longer view from our room - the Duomo!
Typical Florentine street scene. The looming tower is on the Palazzo Vecchio.
The view of the Arno River looking west from the Ponte Vecchio.
Check out the reflected glory on the terrace of the Uffizi!
Indulging in my favorite junk food (thank you Carolyn Savage!) - a banana-Nutella crepe. Don't knock it until you've tried it. The biking can't begin too soon, and at this rate it will be well fueled!
Peter dwarfed by the grandeur of the Bargello Museum loggia and atrium. We are loving the architecture! Such beautiful chaos.
I will wait until tomorrow to recap again - today's lunch at Vini et Vecchi Sappori was a real highlight! Signing off to go to see the David - life is sweet in Florence...
